Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until today. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. At times, the family relied upon free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who was drunk sometimes and was rude to her mother. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and she discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran started in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic primary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
